The paradox of our time .....

Das Paradoxe unserer Zeit in der Geschichte ist,
dass wir höhere Gebäude haben, aber eine kleinere Geduld,
breitere Autobahnen, aber engere Standpunkte;
wir geben mehr aus, aber haben weniger; wir kaufen mehr, aber genießen weniger.
Wir haben größere Häuser und kleinere Familien; mehr Annehmlichkeiten, aber weniger Zeit; wir haben mehr Diplome, aber weniger Verstand; mehr Wissen, aber weniger Urteilsvermögen; more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less well-being.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We have learned to deny our livelihood, but not a life.
We've added years to life not life to years.
We flew to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbors.
We conquered outer space but not our inner space.
We have cleaned the air, but polluted the soul;
we have split the atom but not our prejudice.
We have higher incomes, but lower morals, we have a lot of quantity but little quality. These are the times of the large (tall) human and weak characters, steep profits and shallow relationships.
This is the time of world peace but domestic warfare;
more leisure but less fun, more kinds of food but less nutrition. These are the times of double income, but the increased divorce, fancier
the (luxury) houses, but broken homes.
It is a time when there is much in the show window and nothing in the camp ......... .
